Fed: Struggling world economy will mean a tough budget: Swan

Treasurer WAYNE SWAN says the ailing global economy will make the RUDD government's
first budget a tight one.

He's issued the warning after meetings at the International Monetary Fund in Washington.

Mr SWAN's told ABC radio that slowing world growth .. international financial market
turmoil and higher inflation in the developed world .. all pose challenges for Australia.

He says we're better placed than most countries to handle the situation .. but it will
have a significant impact on the economy and the May 13 budget.
