Fed: War memorial unveils rare Gallipoli images
The Australian War Memorial has unveiled seldom seen images of Australian sailors at
Gallipoli in 1915.
The pictures show men of the 1st Royal Australian Naval Bridging Train at Suvla Bay
.. who were part of a little known Royal Australian Navy operation at Gallipoli.
The war memorial in Canberra says most of the images ..from the collection of Rear
Admiral LEIGHTON SEYMOUR BRACEGIRDLE .. have been held in the photograph collection for
decades.
They're now being released ahead of the 95th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli
.. to broaden public understanding of the ANZAC story on the Turkish peninsula.
